Dysport® Procedure

The Dysport procedure takes place in Dr. Caniglia’s office exam room and is completed in approximately five minutes. Anesthesia is not necessary, although a topical numbing cream is optional. Using a very fine needle, Dr. Caniglia injects the Dysport® substance directly into the appropriate muscles. After treatment, patients usually require no downtime and can return to normal activities the next day. Results last an average of three to four months, although may last as long as six months to a year, and the procedure can be repeated as often as necessary.

What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is comprised of a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. It can be injected into specific muscles to eliminate the appearance of expression lines, such as frown lines (glabellar lines) that exist between the brows. Dysport® involves little to no recovery time or downtime. Most patients can return to their usual routine the very next day. Any side effects that do result are typically short lived.

Patients may begin to see results within 24 hours of their Dysport® treatment, with full improvement after one week. Dysport® tends to involve an earlier onset of action compared to BOTOX® Cosmetic.

While results will vary, Dysport® generally provides improvement for up to four months. In some cases results can last six months to a year.
