Restylane® and Perlane® Procedure

As the skin ages, hyaluronic acid – the natural substance in the body that gives the skin its firm texture and volume – becomes depleted, and the result is the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Both Restylane® and Perlane® are made of hyaluronic acid, and when injected into problem areas, correct facial lines and folds, most commonly around the mouth. The Restylane® and Perlane® procedures last approximately 15 minutes and are administered as follows:

• Dr. Caniglia examines the face and determines where injections are needed and how much of the substance is required.
• Topical anesthetic or cold packs may be applied if the patient wishes for optimal comfort, although this is not necessary.
• Using a tiny needle, the substance is injected directly into wrinkles underneath the surface layer of skin.
• No downtime or recovery time is necessary and patients can return to work and normal activities immediately following the procedure.
